Decorative Artisan Gurunsi Basket

We call this Nosere-yure. It was woven by the expert hands of the Gurunsi people of Northern Ghana. Their daily lives weaving, singing and working at the Baba Tree Compound serve as the inspiration for our designs. Nosere-yure is a Gurune word that refers to a water filled clay vessel of the same shape that has holes in the side so that chickens and Guinea Fowls can stick their heads in and have a good ole slurp of water.

The weaver of this basket will receive 12.5% of the retail price as a commission in addition to what they were already paid for weaving the basket.
