Boncate Art Basket

Boncate (Gurunsie for 'Large') was first woven by long time Baba Tree weaver, Akabare 'Chairman' Abentara after the design for this Bolga basket was submitted to him. 

It was the first basket ever to be sold on our website when it dropped in November 2015.

Rounded, generous and boldly sculptural, it is woven in Bolgatanga, Ghana from elephant grass into a shape that stops people mid-step. 

There is real soul in it, the unmistakable mark of a maker who has perfected his art.

Give it room to breathe in a hallway, a living room or a favourite corner, and it commands the space without trying.

The weaver of this Baba Tree product will receive a 12.5% commission on the retail price in addition to what they were paid upon completion.
