Tua Tia (Baobab Tree) Art Basket
This is the basket the whole company is named after.
Tua-Tia is the Baobab, the mother tree of West Africa, known for its deep shade, its fruit, and its long, rooted permanence. The Baba Tree took its name from it, for the same reasons.
The basket carries the tree across into elephant grass: hanging straw that falls like branches, a full sculptural body, and the winding, coiled weave that is ours alone.
Densely woven in Bolgatanga, Ghana, it stands as a quiet tribute to roots, to place, and to a tree that gives without being asked.
More than a basket. A name, woven.
The weaver of this Baba Tree basket will receive a commission on the retail price of this basket in addition to what they were initially paid upon completion of the basket. 12.5% for the large and medium sizes, and 10% commission for the tiny size.
