Decorative Art Basket

"Zereh" is a word in Gurune, the local language here in Bolgatanga, for a hand carved wooden pillar that is used as a prop for the upper floor in the local mud houses. Artisan weaver Cletus Apaweo has reimagined daily life in the Upper East Region of Ghana with this wonderful woven ode to our local architecture.

This totemic basket is an art sculpture in its own right and despite the simple design you see, it takes an experienced weaver to fulfill the proportions so elegantly.

The Zereh basket is also the perfect woven vessel for your foliage and flower finds. Insert a glass jar into the neck of the vase, sit it on the base of the basket and voila you have yourself a woven vase.

The weaver of this Baba Tree product will receive a 12.5% commission on the retail price in addition to what they were paid upon completion.
