Art Baskets
The Art Basket Collection
The Baba Tree Art Basket Collection is our most sculptural work: large-scale Bolga baskets designed forward. Statement forms handwoven from humble elephant grass in Bolgatanga, Ghana. These are not storage baskets pressed into a decorative role. Each is conceived as art, the work of one weaver, a singular object with bold geometry, colour or quiet natural straw, and a presence that can anchor a room on its own.
Across seventeen distinct designs, from the towering Baare to the rounded Conch (Katayeli Tia) and the nest-inspired Ayeratukko, no two baskets are alike. Slight shifts in weave, tone, and silhouette mark the hand that made each one. Set on a console, a plinth, or the floor of an entryway, a handwoven art basket from The Baba Tree brings depth and texture to interiors that have everything and still feel unfinished. Collected, never mass-produced.
Our weavers are paid well for weaving our baskets, they will receive 12.5% of the retail price as a commission in addition to what they were initially paid.
You will receive the basket in the picture. In our photos, baskets are presented by the weavers who created them.
