Basket Care
Handling and Care
Our baskets are handwoven with care and are designed to last. To maintain their beauty and functionality, we recommend to follow these guidelines:
Avoid Direct Sunlight: Prolonged exposure to direct sunlight can cause the colours to fade.
Keep Dry: Avoid getting the baskets wet. If they do get wet, allow them to dry naturally in a shaded area.
Clean Gently: Use a dry or slightly damp cloth to wipe away dust and dirt. Do not use harsh chemicals or detergents.
Reshape When Needed: If your basket loses its shape, you can reshape it by lightly misting with water and gently molding it with your hands. Click on How to Reshape a Basket to learn more.
Leather Care
The handles of our baskets often come with leather wrapping. To care for the leather:
Keep Leather Dry: Avoid exposure to water. If the leather gets wet, blot it dry with a soft cloth.
Conditioning: Occasionally condition the leather with a suitable leather conditioner to keep it supple and prevent cracking.
Storage
Store baskets in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and moisture. Do not stack heavy items on top of them to avoid deforming their shape.

Handwoven Bolga art basket in elephant grass from Bolgatanga, Ghana.
Tua-Tia — the Baobab Tree in Gurune — is the iconic mother tree of West Africa. Revered for its generous shade, its nourishing fruit, and its quiet permanence. A presence on the land long before any of us got here.
The Baobab is also where The Baba Tree took its name. Chosen for the same reasons people across the region have always returned to it — for the depth of its roots, for what it gives back, for how it holds space.
The basket honours that tree. The hanging straw, the sculptural form, the signature spiralling technique — a translation of the Baobab into elephant grass.
Densely woven, sculpturally proportioned. Each finish the discipline of weavers who don't compromise.
Bought by the people who know. Designers, collectors, buyers who care about the difference between handmade and mass-produced.
Handwoven from elephant grass in Bolgatanga, Ghana, where the Bolga basket originates.
A piece that carries the tree, the place, and the name.
