Handwoven with a very fine straw, the same we use in our handwoven hats, that allows the intricacies of the patterns and straw to shine.

Jemima Akolgo was the first to weave this type of basket in Bolgatanga - so of course we named it after her and her master skills. Since then Jemima has taught and inspired many of our weavers with her innovative approach to traditional Gurunsi folklore. Honouring local basket traditions and creating exciting forms with the oldest craft in the world is what we do best! New ways with weave indeed.
The Pakurigo Wave is an incredible showcase of the individual rhythm and flow of the artisan weavers who expertly weave these baskets. The “wave technique” is our signature, that is.. we created it with the enormous talent that is Palash Singh and our very own Mr John Akurigo during a field trip where we were invited by the Indian government to take 20 of our artisan weavers to the National Institute of Design in Ahmedabad, India in 2013. This basket is often imitated, never equaled!
Awesome for all the ways you want to beautify your home storage needs.. think towels for the bathroom, magazines, toys or crafting supplies - it’s up to you! Happiness comes in waves and beautiful basket storage ideas.. we believe.
A very popular basket that is difficult to weave. Our weavers have taken this design and made it sing. We don’t recommend this basket be used as carry all when shopping owing to the handles not being very strong by nature. A Baba Tree Pot Basket is an objet d’art that will come in handy for storing strange and mysterious items.
Wonder for your walls. Our Wall Baskets have been a long time coming spurred on by many requests from you, our customers, to make this happen. Ask, and you shall receive! Our first collection includes a myriad of delightful handwoven designs whether it’s a wall you want to cover with many of our fair trade beauties woven by experienced hands or just one to start your collection. Our Wall Hangings are also used as centerpieces on beautiful tables.
Please note that there are two ways to hang our baskets on you walls:
Single Weave - creates a harder/stronger basket (another word for this) and is simply faster to achieve a finished basket
Double Weave - is more malleable and takes almost double the time of the single weave and that’s why you will see the significant difference in price.
