Handling and Care
Our baskets are handwoven with care and are designed to last. To maintain their beauty and functionality, we recommend to follow these guidelines:
Avoid Direct Sunlight: Prolonged exposure to direct sunlight can cause the colours to fade.
Keep Dry: Avoid getting the baskets wet. If they do get wet, allow them to dry naturally in a shaded area.
Clean Gently: Use a dry or slightly damp cloth to wipe away dust and dirt. Do not use harsh chemicals or detergents.
Reshape When Needed: If your basket loses its shape, you can reshape it by lightly misting with water and gently molding it with your hands. Click on How to Reshape a Basket to learn more.
Leather Care
The handles of our baskets often come with leather wrapping. To care for the leather:
Keep Leather Dry: Avoid exposure to water. If the leather gets wet, blot it dry with a soft cloth.
Conditioning: Occasionally condition the leather with a suitable leather conditioner to keep it supple and prevent cracking.
Storage
Store baskets in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and moisture. Do not stack heavy items on top of them to avoid deforming their shape.

These delicious beauties come to our compound un-dyed and without handles. We then immerse them in dye and allow to dry. Our handle specialists then construct handles and voila!!! A stunning shopping basket is born.
By demand, we have just started to put these baskets in our online retail shop and we always forget to tag the basket with the weavers name when we purchase it. That will change. 7.5% of the retail price of these baskets (where the weaver is unknown) will go to our beer, medical and school fund. As we get more organised and the weaver of the basket is identified, the weaver will receive a 10% of the retail price as a commission (because the Baba Tree does all the dyeing and handle construction).
